I was originally drawn to Growsari primarily because I wanted to learn more about the retail market covered by sari-sari stores in the Philippines. Little did I know that the most important lesson I would discover is the importance of taking care of people in your team. Despite all the pressure of growing in a fast-paced environment (including 12 months in a pandemic!), Growsari always made sure to take care of the people in this company. Throughout our expansion from 1k stores to our current network of 25k, the love I have for Growsari was fueled by the #PositiveEnergy of the people I get to learn from everyday.

As we look to increase our nationwide footprint, each province we expand to is another chance for me to discover new things about the Philippines and Filipinos, and it makes me aware of all the opportunities we have to use our technology to help make lives in this country better. I’m extremely thankful to have a job that makes me excited for Mondays. I wake up everyday excited to make an #Impact alongside a team of people determined to dream of a better world, and will spend the time to work towards it.

I have worked in the world’s biggest FMCG companies my entire career, but I have never been more energized to work everyday till I started working in GrowSari. I am inspired by the people I work with, as they are all #AudaciousDreamers that want to disrupt the Retail industry and improve the lives of 1 Million Sari-sari store owners. Coming from a very different world before joining in 2019, Growsari became my door into the tech and product management space. My time so far in this company has made me realize the kind of professional future I want: Using tech to build things that deliver positive #impact to the community. In just 3 years, Growsari has really grown exponentially — our user base has increased by more than 10 fold, we now offer many new services beyond FMCG like load, bills payment, e-commerce, and many more, and we have touched the lives of many sari-sari store owners not just in Metro Manila but all over Luzon — and it’s amazing to be part of this journey.

I started out just managing 1 direct report to now managing a team of 50 people, and was exposed to & have led many different facets of the company from Marketing, Growth, Customer Experience, and even Product — and despite the craziness of it all, I’m excited to come to work everyday because I am given a lot of #Ownership, and am surrounded by #AudaciousDreamers who have a lot of #PositiveEnergy & are pumped to make an #Impact in the lives of many Filipinos.

Coming from a software quality engineering background, Growsari has allowed and given me the freedom to manage multiple projects, build a team, and implement Agile processes from scratch. Not only have I learned so much in terms of technical knowledge from all these, I’ve also developed my interpersonal skills through talking to and collaborating with many teams, helping resolve implementation issues whenever needed, and always trying to bring out #PositiveEnergy in difficult conversations in the same way that my colleagues do. I am #GratefulForGrowsari for giving me the chance to transition into this role and for trusting its employees to make big and impactful decisions.
